DO IT
Our band was doing Don't stop believing by the journey. We had two vocalists which was myself and kylie. we had two guitarists Tom and bobby and we had a pianist Nathaniel. We didn't have the performance until 04/10/2024. The video which I have linked at the top on this page was us rehearsing on the 27/09/2024. This gave us time to go over the performance and make it better.
WHAT?
Firstly we listened to the song as a group. We figured out who was doing what. While listening to the song Bobby said he would do the guitar solos in the song as he felt more confident at doing this knowing exactly when to come in and when to stop. Bobby practiced the solos. Nathanial and Tom both had the chord sheets which they both where going through. Me and Kylie had the lyrics we went through those as well. Once we all felt confident enough we started to rehearse together while also listening to the original song making sure we where on the right path while looking for markers to improve. It was a struggle at first to keep everyone on topic but once we went over it a few time it started to get easier. The results of this was good however it did take longer for some of the band to come off of the song sheets later which affected the stage presence.
SO WHAT?
These results imply we where able to work as a team to divide everyone into the key roles which showed we had a positive team dynamic. All of the band where working on skills which we already have but we were improving them. looking over the original also showed that we wanted compare and then perform what we had just listened to making the performance better quality to the original. putting our own mark on the song. I influenced the outcome by knowing the cues when to come in and having a performance mindset.
NOW WHAT?
For the next performance what I will do differently is prioritise memorising the lyrics better. Making sure that rehearsals are taken seriously by the band dedicating time for different band members to learn there chords/lyrics sheets given everyone a better chance at remembering cues and there part. I would also like a better stage presence with every performance to make it one not to be forgotten.
